Course outline for P6 Science:

January: Forces and its applications

February: Energy and Conversions

March: Magnets and Electricity

April: Web of Life and predator/prey relationship

May: Revision month for mid-year exam

June: Environmental impact and changes

July: Adaptation for plants and animals

August: Man and his environment pollution and conservation

September: Revision month for PSLE (TYS questions)

Target group: Current P6 students who are struggling with Science despite always memorizing the perfect answer from answer key. Memorizing is time consuming and inefficient due to the vast content as well as the flexibility of the PSLE questions. By mastering basic concepts and using their everyday environment as a reference, students are better able to relate with PSLE questions and to answer them accordingly. Intensive training will be provided to condition students to answer using correct scientific terminology, with keyword recognition and qualitative answering by parts.

By the end of the course, students will be able to intuitively sieve out correct MCQ questions without wasting too much time, as well as to break down, analyze and solve complex qualitative questions in section B, despite not having done the question before.

Lesson is taught with a lecture and tutorial format. Notes with blanks will be issued for students to fill in, and examining examples of questions in lecture. After lecture, tutorials will be conducted in incremental levels of difficulty. There will be a month long period for revision for major exams. Students are expected to bring their scripts and worksheets for review so as to better understand how to tackle their school’s examination. The month of September will be entirely on Ten Year Series questions, as well as predictions on the type of questions that will appear in PSLE.

Tutor Background:
